Hurricane Dorian Moving Away from the Mid-Atlantic Coast
CHANGES TO WATCHES AND WARNINGS:
CURRENT WATCHES AND WARNINGS:
STORM INFORMATION:
The center of Hurricane Dorian will continue moving northeast away
from the Mid-Atlantic Coast. Wind impacts have come to an end for St.
Mary's County. Tidal flooding is not expected through tonight, but
water levels may rise sharply Saturday and Saturday night. This may
cause moderate flooding along portions of the western shore of the
Chesapeake Bay and Tidal Potomac River.
Elsewhere across Eastern West Virginia, Central and Western Maryland,
Northern and Northwestern Virginia, and District of Columbia, little
to no impact is anticipated.
SURGE:
Little immediate storm surge impacts are expected. However, a
significant rise in tide levels is expected Saturday, which could
cause minor to moderate coastal flooding.
Elsewhere across Eastern West Virginia, Central and Western Maryland,
Northern and Northwestern Virginia, and District of Columbia, little
to no impact is anticipated.
Problems with sewer backups can contaminate standing flood
waters. Keep children away from flood waters.
Be alert for flooded roads. Avoid travel until water levels subside
and roads have been cleared. Do not drive through places where flood
waters cover the road. Turn around, don't drown!

issued by the National Weather Service in Baltimore MD/Washington DC
regarding the effects of tropical cyclone hazards upon the area.

SITUATION OVERVIEW

The center of Hurricane Dorian will continue moving northeast away
from the Mid-Atlantic Coast. Wind impacts have come to an end for St.
