SUMMARY OF 300 PM MDT...2100 UTC...INFORMATION ---------------------------------------------- LOCATION...23.2N 110.1W ABOUT 25 MI...40 KM NNW OF THE SOUTHERN TIP OF BAJA CALIFORNIA MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS...30 MPH...45 KM/H PRESENT MOVEMENT...W OR 280 DEGREES AT 14 MPH...22 KM/H MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE...1008 MB...29.77 INCHES WATCHES AND WARNINGS -------------------- There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect. DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 300 PM MDT (2100 UTC), the center of Post-Tropical Cyclone Hernan was located near latitude 23.2 North, longitude 110.1 West. The post-tropical cyclone is moving toward the west near 14 mph (22 km/h) and this general motion is expected to continue until the system dissipates west of the southern portion of the Baja California peninsula tonight or on Saturday. Maximum sustained winds are near 30 mph (45 km/h) with higher gusts. The low pressure area is expected to dissipate tonight or Saturday. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1008 mb (29.77 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- None. 000 WTPZ43 KNHC 282033 TCDEP3 Post-Tropical Cyclone Hernan Discussion Number 11 NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL EP132020 300 PM MDT Fri Aug 28 2020 Satellite imagery, scatterometer data, and surface observations indicate that Hernan has degenerated into a broad low pressure area near the southern end of the Baja California peninsula. The remnant low is forecast to move generally westward for the next 12-24 h until it is absorbed into the monsoon gyre that includes Tropical Storm Iselle. This is the last advisory issued by the National Hurricane Center on this system.
