CHANGES TO WATCHES AND WARNINGS:
CURRENT WATCHES AND WARNINGS:
STORM INFORMATION:
Tropical Storm Debby in the eastern Gulf of Mexico, expected to become
a Hurricane tonight. The threat for sustained tropical storm force
winds has now moved north of our area, thus Tropical Storm warnings for
extreme southwest Florida and adjacent waters have been cancelled.
The following hazards remain a concern with Tropical Storm Debby even
though the strongest winds have moved away:
Rainfall - Periods of moderate to heavy rain will continue into this
evening. Additional rainfall amounts of 1-2 inches are expected with
locally higher amounts in excess of 4 inches possible the threat for
higher amounts has now shifted to the eastern half of south Florida
where the flooding threat is a bit lower. Brief periods of moderate
rain moving inland across southwest Florida could further aggravate
ongoing flooding.
Coastal Flooding/Surge - Higher than usual tides due to the combination
of surge from Debby and the upcoming new moon could lead to coastal
flooding of 1 to 2 feet along coastal Collier and mainland Monroe
Counties.
Tornado - A few tornadoes remain possible through this evening. A
Tornado Watch is in effect for Glades, Hendry and Collier counties.
SURGE:
Potential impacts from the main surge event are now unfolding across
coastal Southwest Florida. Remain well away from locally hazardous
surge having possible limited impacts. If realized, these impacts
include:
Elsewhere across South Florida, little to no impact is anticipated.
TORNADOES:
Potential impacts from tornadoes are still unfolding across southwest
Florida, where a Tornado Watch is in effect for Collier, Glades and
Hendry counties. Remain well braced against a dangerous tornado event
having possible significant impacts. If realized, these impacts
include:
Additional impacts from tornadoes are still a concern across the
eastern half of south Florida. Remain well braced against tornado event
having further limited impact potential.
FLOODING RAIN:
Potential impacts from the flooding rain are still unfolding across
much of South Florida, but especially over portions of southwest
Florida. Remain well guarded against dangerous flood waters having
possible significant impacts. If realized, these impacts include:
Additional impacts from flooding rain are still a concern across the
eastern half of south Florida. Remain well guarded against locally
hazardous flood waters having further impacts of limited potential.
EVACUATIONS:
Follow the advice of local officials.
OTHER PREPAREDNESS INFORMATION:
Be alert for flooded roads which could be compromised or littered
with debris. Avoid travel until water levels subside and roads have
been cleared. Do not drive through places where flood waters cover
the road. Turn around, don't drown!
Have multiple ways to receive Tornado Warnings if issued. Consider
nearby shelter options as you move about. Be ready to shelter quickly.

Several places may experience expanded areas of rapid inundation at underpasses, low-lying spots, and poor drainage areas. Some streets and parking lots take on moving water as storm drains and retention ponds overflow. Driving conditions become hazardous. Some road and bridge closures.
